Singapore Integrated Diabetic Retinopathy Programme (SiDRP) aims to improve traditional diabetic retinopathy (DR) screening with a comprehensive screening programme.
This programme offers real-time DR assessment from photographs by a centralised team of accredited trained readers, supported by the national tele-ophthalmology IT infrastructure.
Since 2010, SiDRP has captured more than 110,000 screens from diabetic patients in polyclinics. Each image is taken using a retina camera operated by trained nurses. The images are sent to centres where they are reviewed by trained readers, who generate report within a day (often within the hour). The report is sent to the patient’s doctor, who will refer the patient to an ophthalmologist, if necessary.
Most diabetic patients of all 21 polyclinics in the Singapore Health Services, National Healthcare Group and National University Polyclinics are on the SiDRP.
