The electrophysiology unit at SNEC provides diagnostic tests such as electroretinagraphy (ERG), multifocal ERG, electrooculography (EOG) and visual evoked potential (VEP) which are integral components in managing patients with retinal disorders and neuro-ophthalmological conditions with unexplained visual loss.
This investigative diagnostic department was set up in 2002 as a pioneer initiative within the region. It involves the study of electric activity associated with a bodily part or function. Patients are objectively assessed for retinal, optic nerve and cerebral function based on International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision (ISCEV) standards.
