The Glaucoma Department is committed to education and training and currently offers innovations to aid patients and guide doctors.
Associate Professor Perera developed a free app module in conjunction with TouchSurgery in London to teach both cataract surgery and glaucoma surgery. These have been extensively downloaded worldwide by both doctors and healthcare professionals and won a Golden Apple Education award from SingHealth.
The Glaucoma Department conducts specialty courses to update both local as well as regional ophthalmologists. We also provide public education as well as updates for the general practitioners and optometrists.
The department has offered the largest number of courses at international meetings of all the departments in SNEC. Within SNEC, it trains the largest number of international fellows from the region and beyond which lead to future strong clinical relationships, strategic research collaborations and promotes the SNEC brand as a whole.
