Profile

Dr Yvonne Chung Hsi-Wei graduated from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’s School of Medicine and Dentistry in London, United Kingdom in 2001. She underwent a 3-year research stint on stem cells and biomaterials funded by Singapore’s National Medical Research Council Scholarship and the Mayo Foundation at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota from 2004-2006. Upon her return to Singapore, she completed her basic and advanced surgical training in Ophthalmology and was admitted as a fellow of the Academy of Medicine in 2013.

Dr Chung’s surgical interests lied in reconstructive surgery and ophthalmic pathology of the eye and its periorbita. This led to her undergoing local subspecialty Oculoplastics fellowship training at the Singapore National Eye Centre. In 2014, she was subsequently awarded the overseas HMDP (Human Manpower Development Program) fellowship training in Oculoplastics and Orbital surgery at the Vancouver General Hospital, Canada, under the preceptorship of Prof Peter J Dolman. She was also exposed to orbital oncology under Drs Vivian Yin, Valerie White and Steven Rasmussen.

Dr Chung has since been practicing at the Singapore National Eye Centre and its affiliate branches of Alexandra Hospital and Changi General Hospital as an Oculoplastics and Cataract consultant since 2015 and has an active interest in thyroid eye disease, lacrimal and orbital surgery. She also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the SingHealth Duke-NUS Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Academic Clinical Program and is committed to resident and fellow teaching.
