Profile

Dr Valencia Foo is an Associate Consultant with the Cataract & Comprehensive Ophthalmology Department at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), and also a sub-specialty fellow with the Oculoplastic Department under the Advanced Clinical Specialist Program.

Dr Foo completed her medical training at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2015. She went on to complete her specialist training in Ophthalmology at SNEC in 2023. During her training, she represented Ophthalmology on the SingHealth Residents’ Committee, where she was conferred the SingHealth Residents’ Committee Appreciation Award. She obtained her Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology in 2021 and was inducted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) in 2022. Dr Foo completed the Ophthalmology Exit Examination where she was awarded a Gold medal and was appointed Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS) in 2023. 

Dr Foo is actively involved in clinical research. She has presented at numerous international and local scientific meetings, obtained research grants and published scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals. She won the American Academy of Ophthalmology Best Poster Award in 2019, and received the Young Investigator Award (Clinical) at the Singapore General Hospital 19th Annual Scientific Meeting in 2013. She is an Adjunct Research Fellow with the Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences Academic Clinical Programme (Eye ACP) in Duke-NUS Medical School. She also contributes to educating medical students and was appointed as the SingHealth Associate in Education in 2022. Dr Foo strongly believes in giving back actively to society, and has participated in free screening events for the community.
