In conjunction with World Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Day, Tower Transit Singapore (TTS) organised a Public Bus Confidence Course (PBCC) for people living with MS. The PBCC is aimed at giving people with physical disabilities and mobility challenges the confidence to take the bus. This course included a hands-on component where about 10 patients with MS practised boarding and alighting from an actual bus. The course was led by TTS’ Customer Experience & Inclusivity Officer Cheryl Tan who was diagnosed with MS in 2015 at the age of 24 and is a motorised wheelchair user. Dr Yeo Tianrong, Senior Consultant, Department of Neurology, NNI explained that MS is a life-long disabling condition that affects the brain and the spinal cord. In severe cases, patients may not be able to stand. There is currently no cure for it, but there are drugs available to control relapses to prevent worsening of the condition.
