I am deeply grateful for the exemplary care and professionalism exhibited by the neonatal intensive care unit and obstetrics and gynaecology department at Singapore General Hospital (SGH), and the children’s intensive care unit and complex home care team of KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH).
My wife was admitted to SGH on July 27, and our son was born prematurely at 26 weeks and three days, weighing only 685g. Over the following 107 days, SGH became our second home, and the exceptional support given to my family was invaluable.
We spent another 14 days at KKH before he was discharged on Nov 27. We hold the SGH and KKH teams in high regard and are thankful for their kindness and hard work, which laid a strong foundation for my son’s recovery.
Neonatal and children’s intensive care doctors, nurses and allied professionals are in a niche area of medicine.
Our experience over the past few months has shown that the people working in this area are unsung heroes who deserve to be applauded.
We want to thank everyone at SGH and KKH who made one of the most difficult times in our lives much more bearable.
