AI Singapore (AISG) is pleased to announce an upcoming joint grant call between Singapore and New Zealand on "Leveraging AI for Healthy Ageing." This initiative aims to foster scientific and technological collaboration, strengthen partnerships, and promote knowledge exchange between researchers from both countries at the intersection of healthcare and artificial intelligence (AI).
To help you find potential collaborators and learn more about this exciting opportunity, AISG will be hosting a virtual networking session alongside our New Zealand partners from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). This event will feature more details about the grant call, as well as presentations by key stakeholders and potential research partners from both Singapore and New Zealand.

Research statement
"Leveraging AI for Healthy Ageing"
The call seeks novel, scalable and cost-effective AI solutions to address neurological and mental conditions among older people, supporting healthcare providers to deliver better health outcomes. The goal is to extend healthy years of life, enable personalised care, develop preventative strategies and facilitate the long-term management of various conditions – reducing healthcare burden, addressing the wider societal impacts of ageing, and improving the quality of life for the older population.
Sub-topics of interest to Singapore and New Zealand:
- AI to detect cognitive decline and degenerative neurological conditions (e.g. Dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's)
- AI for mental health and wellbeing (depression, anxiety and social isolation)
- AI for age-related risk factors for poor health
- Interactions between brain health and the immune system (e.g. microbiome)
- Other novel proposals for AI solutions in Geriatric Health are welcome
Funding Details:
- No. of Supported Teams: Up to three joint teams over a period of 3 years.
- Funding per Singaporean Team: Up to SGD 1,333,000
- Funding per New Zealand Team: Up to NZD 4,000,000
